Committees
SAR appreciates the volunteers who serve our association, members, and community by serving on a committee or board of directors. Rosters for boards and committees are available under the "About" menu item above.
Committee Descriptions
The community relations committee actively enhances the public awareness of the name “REALTOR®” and the Association and its members through community involvement and raising awareness among members of volunteer opportunities. Committee meets quarterly at a minimum.
The finance committee assists the Association staff in the development of the SAR annual budget and monitors the budget throughout the year.
This is a member-at-large position and is restricted to REALTOR® members. Committee meets quarterly at a minimum.
The governmental affairs committee develops the Association’s local legislative agenda; monitors and reviews political issues on city and county levels that impact members; and coordinates and conducts local candidate interviews and recommends local RPAC contributions in election years in partnership with the RPAC Committee. Committee meets as needed.
GA Committee members are strongly encouraged to contribute at least $99.00 to RPAC and agree to do so if selected to this committee.
The grievance committee reviews ethics and arbitration complaints and determines whether or not they are sent forward for hearing by the Professional Standards Committee.
Restricted to REALTOR® members. Commitment: three (3) years, with rotation up to Professional Standards Committee after term; committee meets as needed. Requirements: Advanced Professional Standards training.
The professinal standards committee conducts ethics hearings to determine if violations have occurred and, if so, the discipline to be mandated. Conducts hearings to determine who is entitled to money in arbitrations and ensure due process. Responsible for reviewing and updating the Association’s Professional Standards Policy(ies).
Restricted to REALTOR® members. Commitment: three (3) years; committee meets as needed. Requirements: Completion of three-year term on Grievance Committee and Advanced Professional Standards training. Contact the Association office to verify eligibility.
The risk management committee conducts maintenance and review of the Association’s uniform contracts and forms. Assists members in understanding and following equal service guidelines and other liability risks. Committee meets as needed.
The REALTOR® Political Action Committee is responsible for raising RPAC funds. Works directly with Association staff to plan and promote events and, in concert with the Governmental Affairs Committee, conducts local candidate interviews and recommends local RPAC contributions in election years. Committee meets as needed.
RPAC Committee members are strongly encouraged to contribute at least $99.00 to RPAC and agree to do so if selected to this committee.
Your Professinal Network (YPN) coordinates networking and educational opportunities for members. Committee meets quarterly at a minimum.
